Peace, Love, & Animals is non-profit, volunteer run organization and shelter that is dedicated to saving lives and finding the best homes for animals. Our mission is to pull animals from all sources, including local pounds that would end up euthanizing pets that are perfectly able to become great companions.
The animals in our rescue live out their lives without the fear of being euthanized, but all of them do need good homes and families to love!

Snickers is a big teddy bear who loves to give hugs! He truly loves everyone, people and animals alike, and is a big fan of playing fetch with a ball! Rip is a brindle feist mix that is full of energy and love! He was found with his sisters Tessa and Pinky in a box on the side of the road, but lives the good life now at Peace Love and Animals! Ginger is a beautiful redhead with personality to spare! She is excited by everything in life, especially her neighbors and dinnertime! She is very smart. Carson is a sweet and loving little boy who enjoys playing with his siblings just as much as curling up in a lap for cuddles. Coby is a curious and smart little boy and has always seemed like the 'leader of the pack' for this litter. He has a sassy side too but loves cuddling just as much as the rest of them do. Coby's coat makes him look like he is wearing a tuxedo, with his white 'shirt' on his chest and beautiful black all over the rest of him! Shelby is a beautiful brunette young adult who weighs 60 pounds. Shelby is a wigglebutt and LOVES people and dogs! She's ok around cats, but needs to be told not to chase if they run past :) Shelby is also good with kids, but a bit shy at first so her new family will need to have a bit of patience with her while she gets acclimated! Shelby has developed what she believes is a wonderful talent in jumping! Because of her awesome jumping abilities, she will need a home where she can be a mostly-inside dog and have at least a 6 ft fence outside :) Shelby's favorite things include chasing bubbles, playing outside with other dogs, cuddling on the floor while she chews on a Nylabone, and cookies. Fiona is a beautiful young adult that is living with a foster family right now and is looking for her forever family. Fiona gets along great with other dogs and people, and she lives with cats but sometimes has to be encouraged not to dart at them when they run past. So far she's doing great! Fiona has been adopted once before but it was not a good situation and she came back to us. We have been loving on her and cuddling her to make up for that rough time, and now she's ready to find the PERFECT family for HER! Fiona would like to be an "inside dog" please, and she would like to live in a family with adults and maybe older children. Those are really Fiona's most important wishes, but she also wouldn't mind if you had another dog she could play with, please :) Fiona LOVES watching television (she tries to touch the moving pictures!) and especially loves to chase bubbles. She could jump and catch bubbles all day long if you'd let her. When it's time to turn the TV off and put the bubbles away, Fiona likes to lay down next to her dog friends and chew on a nylabone, or cuddle with her people on the couch. Fiona is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, potty trained, microchipped, about 50 pounds, and full of love to give her family just as soon as they find her. Poor Tony has had a rough life before coming to us. A customer of Cathy's brought Tony to us, and we are so glad they did. Tony was found with a thick chain around his neck, and he was dragging it behind him through downtown Athens - it appeared Tony had escaped from a bad situation. We took him in, gave him a bath and some comfort and rest, and he is now just like any other happy little pup! He's still a bit shy towards new people, but he opens up quickly and LOVES to go out in the playground and run around with friends! We believe Tony is around 1 year old, and he has a beautiful white coat with a bit of brown on his face. Hobo was turned in after the tornado by his family who could no longer keep him when their home was destroyed. The circumstances sucked, but we took in Hobo and gave him the love he needed to get his confidence back. Now he's ready for his true FOREVER home! Chipper is a Shepard-mix who was abandoned at 6 months of age by his previous owners who left him in an apartment in North Alabama. When he was found, he immediately showed an exceptionally playful and happy personality despite his abandonment. He currently lives in a foster home where he enjoys playing with a fellow foster dog, running, and going on walks. Chipper is very keen on spending time with people and is extremely attentive and would love to follow you around the house and yard as you go about your daily life. He is crate trained and has been very quick to pick up on "sit," "stay," and "come" and is now learning non-verbal hand cues. Wanda is a sweet little girl who was abandoned at PLA in the middle of the night. She got her name cause we "wanda where she came from!" She is a sweet little love bug, but a bit of an escape artist. You'll have to be careful when crating her or if she's in a chain link fence, but we've found ways to make it work :D She is a sweet heart who just wants to cuddle in your lap or get belly rubs. Carlie was born on March 31. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. She was born here at PLA so we are very fond of this special fun loving girl. Super sweet and loves hugs and kisses. George is a precious little old man just loves to be a lap baby. He came to PLA when his former owner no longer wanted him and dumped him at a shelter because he was getting old. George is 13 years young and has a lot of life left in him. He would be the perfect companion for a retired person that lives a quieter life. George loves human contact and just wants to be close. I truly breaks my heart to think that someone would have a pet for 13 years and then not be there for them in their golden years. Marshall iis such a handsome fellow! But he was not always this way. Poor Marshall was found as a stray with terrible skin infections. But after spending several months at the vet, he is completely cured! Now his shiny black coat is beautiful and he knows it lol. He often does his little smile for you. Marshall is a happy guy about 1 ½ years old. Like any typical Lab, he loves his toys and room to run around and play. Throw in a couple of kids and the fun begins! Bindi came to us from another rescue because she was not getting any attention. Well, we think that she is just beautiful and will get lots of attention here at PLA. She has a very happy and lively personality. Although she is very young, it is really hard to tell just what she will grow up to be, but whatever that is, it will be full of fun and love. She gets along great with all the other dogs as long as they will PLAY! She has the most gorgeous color too! Zorro is a really good dog. He tries really hard to be well behaved and have good manners with his house training. He has the most adorable brown eyes that can melt your heart. Bethany is just the sweetest girl. She was cast out at our door in the middle of the night just moments after weaning a litter of pups. Her heart was broken. It was such a difficult time for her as well as us trying to get her through the adjustment. For several days, poor Bethany had the saddest eyes and heart I have ever seen in a dog. She mourned for her babies. But we loved her through those days and she has learned to wag her tail again. She is a beautiful lady with a gentle spirit. She gets along with the other dogs but needs to have a family of her own to fill that void and make her special. Please come by and spend some time with Bethany. She would love the company. Bethany is going through treatment for heartworms but this can be continued, at our cost, in her adoptive home. Rebel is a 6 year old pure bred Cavalier King Charles who was turned in because he was "too old" to continue breeding. He was not well cared for in his early years. All of his teeth had to be removed so he is on a soft food diet. But he doesn't seem to mind now! He also has a heart murmur that he has to take medicine for. Reba came to us after she had been hit by a car. The damage was very bad to her back leg and it had to be amputated, but that doesn't stop her from getting around!
